Stomach flu..

Bleck! I hate having the flu. I have had diarrhea for 4 days and started vomiting last night. Not fun. I can't decide if I should take some Imodium and stop it, or just let it run its course. All I know is  I am so sick of being sick, and I really hope the kids don't get it!!!! Those are messes I don't want to clean up.

So for today I was planning on going to the gym and then to do laundry, but I think I will skip the gym but still do laundry. I am running short on towels and if the kids get sick - I may need them.

I joined the gym!!

Yesterday a friend and I went up and joined the gym. I got a 30 minute workout in before they had to come get me because Zach was crying in the daycare. He has never been to daycare and he is a clingy boy so he has a hard time.
I biked on a recumbent bike for 15 minutes and then walked around the track for 15 minutes!! Not a  whole lot but more than I was doing so go me!!
I hope to see results in a  few weeks. I will be going Monday through Friday almost daily (unless something comes up where I cant go). and then on weekends when we aren't bogged down with other plans.

Its an early morning

   4:30 am. That is the time Zach woke me up today. ARG. The "normal" wake up time is 6. That is 1 1/2 hours of missed sleep after already being woke up from Mia, who had a nightmare. I think she came in about 2 am. She crowds me out every time she gets in the bed and then Zach can't sleep because of being crowded between me and daddy.

   It is mornings like this that I am super glad I stay home. I can try and squeeze a nap in later when Zach takes a nap. I just have to keep him (and me) awake until we get Mia on the school bus and then back home. Hopefully he will be ready to lay down by 9. Then I can still get a couple hours in and have time to do the daily stuff that needs to be done. :)

   There is always plenty to do around the house! I will defiantly enlist t he help of the kiddos when they get home from school!!

Well, like I said yesterday - I am gonna blog more. So here is my weekly weigh in. I have not done anything yet to loose weight (this time around anyway). So here it is .....

Long time no blog.....

Wow! I took a long break there. I just wasn't feeling it. Know what I mean? There wasn't much (still isn't) going on so I just didn't post. However - I am planning on making a change in that.


I need to get back on the dieting bandwagon. I am yet again 214lbs. ARG. So I need to loose about 5 pounds before my upcoming doctor appointment in about 2 1/2 weeks. (Yikes!!) So I am thinking of doing a weekly weigh in (Wednesday seem to be good cause of the W in Wednesday works well with the W in Weigh in).  Plan is to 1. Stop eating so damn much (I will keep a food journal) 2. Get off my fat ass and exercise. and 3. Work on loving me more so I can feel good about myself and want to eat better and exercise.
I think they are hand in hand. Without one, there will be no success, but with all three I can accomplish my goal. So short term (yet again) is to get under 200. I am hoping to achieve this by the end of May. (That's about 6 weeks). Long term is to get down to 135. That is my pre-pregnancy weight for all of the kids. What a dream that would be huh?!?!?!

I also plan on spending a lot more time outside with the kids. Park at least 3 days a week and then pool when it opens up about 3 days a week. I think a picnic is in order for at least once a week!! Fun times. Also there is a little pond nearby that has ducks and geese. We will have to walk down there and feed the geese and ducks. There is also a cute park there and a really nice walking trail. Defiantly have to go there once a week too.

There is only about 8 weeks of school left, so I am starting to plan the summer fun. I like to go to the library weekly and get educational books and then do crafts and watch a movie. I like to do themed weeks. The kids seem to enjoy it. I have to start thinking of good themes for an almost 2 year old, 5 year old and 6 year old. I am sure there is tons. I defiantly want to go to the zoo at least once this summer. I love going there.

So to get all of this done I am going to have to break my face book addiction. It is that darn frontier ville. :)

Snake Saturday...

This past Saturday we went down to North Kansas City for thier Snake Saturday Parade. This is the first time for us all to go together. Sam had been in past years with his dad, but no one else had been.
There were all sorts of nice cars. The kids' favorite was the Shrek car!!

They had pony rides.
Zach's favorite was the petting zoo.




And of course there was the parade. It was awesome. There were all sorts of Irish themed floats and of course St. Pattys Day floats. Here we are waiting for it to start...

Doctor appointment =bad news

I had some blood drawn on Saturday for a long list of tests. I had an appointment yesterday to go over all of those results.
Wow! Well, I wasn't that taken aback. I really haven't been taking care of myself the way I should.
So here is the breakdown... My Cholesterol and Triglycerides are high so I have to start on meds for that. My calcium and vitamin D are low so I have to start taking a multivitamin and extra vitamin D. My HbA1C (tests sugar levels long term) is at 5.8. At 5.9 they consider you diabetic.
So the doc has ordered me to cut out all refined carbs.
Wow! That is like 90% of my diet. No wonder I am overweight with high cholesterol!!
She wants to see me in one month to check on my progress in weight loss and also my blood pressure to make sure the increased dose is working. So I really need the encouragement to get on this. I plan to wright down everything I eat/drink and also exercise and then keep track of that. I really need to loose this weight.
My waist is at 47 " and I eventually want it to be down to 35 or less. That is the healthy number.
I weighed myself this morning and I was 209. I eventually want to be down to 135.

Really gonna give it effort....

Being overweight sucks!!! It hurts, it is embarrassing, it is just harder. I have been dealing with some major back pain. The doctor says most of it is due to my weight. I gain weight in my belly. I get asked when I am due on almost a daily basis and I am not pregnant. I wont lie - I look like I am about 6 months pregnant. I don't like it. I wish that I would not have belly weight. It increases my risk for heart attack and stroke. Heart trouble runs in my family. I really need to get the weight under control!!!
Today I weighed in at 212!! Ouch!
So my goal is to eat around 1800 calories a day. I will accomplish this by eating 5 or 6 small meals around 300 calories each. I also will drink diet soda, water, or crystal light. I will limit sugary products. I will also try to get in some exercise in daily.
So my short term goal is to get under 200 pounds. I would like to be at 199 by April 1.
After that goal is reached I want to be at 175 by July 4th and then at 150 by October 31 and then my ultimate goal is 135 by December 31!! I hope that I can get it accomplished.
I will check in weekly for a weigh in. Wish me luck.

Morning Sounds

There is nothing quite like my morning time. I have a hard time sleeping past 6 am on any day. I guess it is good because I am stuck int he routine, but I would love to be able to sleep in.
So since I am up before everyone else in the house I get to have some "quiet time". It isn't really quiet, but there are no TVs on and kids are not fighting. This is my me time and I enjoy it. I love the sounds of the morning. I love the sound of the coffee brewing and can almost taste its warm comfort when I smell it. I love the cats playing. They make their little sounds while chasing and wrestling each other. They are adorable in the morning (also their most active time). I love the sound of outside. Sometimes it is the trash truck with it's loud clanking and sometimes it is wind blowing. Then sometimes it is the sound of others starting up their cars to head off to work (rarely on Saturday or Sunday mornings though).
Morning sounds are awesome!

Snow play


On Friday we went out to play while we waited to pick up Jaidann at the bus.
Zach was so excited.




It was so nice and sunny. Zach has never played in the snow before. He has been outside while snowing, but never crawled and played in it. 















Jaidann was happy to play in the snow on the way home too. 




I am blessed

I am a lucky person. I have wonderful blessings in my life. Many, many blessings. I am blessed to have an awesome family.
I think that sometimes when things don't go my way I tend to forget my blessings. It is easy to remember them when I look through photographs, or look into my children's' eyes.
My children are also blessed. My in-laws came over for a visit and Zach enjoyed playing with Daddy and Grandpa on the couch. It is such a blessing to be able to spend time with grandparents.


After a hard day of play Mia and my niece Allie crashed out on the couch. It's a blessing to play hard all day with cousins.



Cookies - always a blessing. I made these valentines cookies while the big kids were at school. They were so happy to come home to fresh baked cookies. Such a blessing to see their happy faces.

Has it really been more than 2 weeks?!?!

I guess I was in a bit of a blogging funk. I kept telling myself - I will get on and post tomorrow. And then the next day I would say it again.
We are in the middle of a blizzard as I type this. It has been snowing and blowing all day. It is super crazy. I will have to get some pics when it is light out.
Weight loss - not great, but it is a new month. This morning I weighed in at 206. My goal for February is to loose 6 pounds. I would love to get below the 200 mark again soon. I plan to accomplish this by eating better. I will eat oatmeal for breakfast and lunch and then I will eat regular dinner. Also I will have 2 healthy snacks and only drink diet pop, water, coffee, or tea. I would like to squeeze in exercise at least 3 days a week (walking outside is my fave).
The kids are doing OK. Sam is still struggling in school. He just hates to do the work. He needs to and he knows that, he just doesn't want to. Mia still would rather be at home with me than at school, but once she gets there she has a good time. Zach has been growing like a weed. He has 4 new teeth!!! 2 molars on bottom and then two canines on top. He has been rather cranky, but I don't blame him.
Well, off for now. I promise to blog more often this month.

Body After Baby

It is week 6 of an 8 week challenge.
I have not been doing great. I have such a hard time making myself exercise.
It is so much easier when it is warm outside and I can just put Zach in the stroller and go for a walk. When it is cold outside I don't want to go out at all. Also with the days being so short I find myself going to bed earlier and waking up later. That makes for less awake time and more laziness.
I have been doing better with eating better things. I am not a breakfast person, but I have been making myself eat a little something in hopes of boosting my metabolism. We will see if it helps in the next few weeks. :)

This week I am at 206. Down one pound from last week.

I am hoping to loose 2 pounds this next week. I will be exercising more (I will!!) I did 2 days this week and then of course there is the up and down the stairs doing laundry (we live on third floor). I will be doing the Biggest looser workout this week. Maybe mid day since I have such a hard time waking up and motivating myself to exercise.

Snow Days

There is snow on the ground and it is cold outside!


They have called off school for two days in a row. We have been keeping busy with fun things.

Yesterday was Lego's and baths! My boys love to play with the Lego's. Here is Zach and Sam playing Lego's.




While they play Lego's, Mia enjoys a nice warm bath.


And of course there is time for cuddling on the couch while watching movies. (I just noticed these are different jammies on Zach. Must be Sunday here.)



Later in the evening Anthony and Sam built this really cool car.

Body After baby challenge week 5

Wow has it been a week already? I can't believe that. So this past week I have been sick 2 days so far. I have a horrible head cold. I exercised two days this week and I haven't been really eating good. It is almost that time of the month so I am super hungry this week. It happens every month.
This week I am at 207. I think that is down 2 pounds from last week. Not quite sure. My memory is horrible.

I will follow along with some of the 30 day challenges, but I might change some things up as I don't want to buy a lot of workout stuff that might not get used more than once or twice. This 30 day challenge is to do the Jillian Michaels The Shred it DVD. I will not do that particular DVD because I don't have it, but I do have a Biggest Loser workout that I will do. I am going to skip out on it today as I feel super sick, but hope to pick it up tomorrow. Also I will make a goal for myself to write down everything I eat so that I know how much I really am eating. Maybe it will also deter me from eating the bite of this and piece of that that I do here and there throughout the day. Do I really want to write down that I ate a piece of a cookie?

A Bucket List???

What is a "Bucket List"? Well, to me it is a list of things you wanna do before you die.

I have yet to make one for myself.

So far my list is short and simple, but I am sure it will be added to as I think of more things I would love to do.
Go sky diving. I am deathly afraid of heights, but it would be cool to say I did it.
Visit Africa.
Read the whole Bible.
Go camping in the jungle.
Go on a missions trip.
Learn to ski.
Learn to surf.
Have Grand children. (Not too soon though).
Buy a house and make it my own.


Like I said - it is short, but I will add to it as I think of more things.

First blog of the New Year

I have been putting off writing my first blog post of this new year because I didn't know what to say. I am a motor mouth so that is odd for me. I guess I have been taking it all in. There are so many joys in life and I wanna enjoy them as much as I can.
I want to share my New Year Resolutions with you. I have a few and I want to do good this year with keeping them.
1. Open a savings account and deposit monthly. (I know how horrible is it that I don't have a savings account yet?!)
2. Be better with money. Spend less on junk and out to eat.
3. Read Bible on a more regular basis.
4. Loose at least 5 pounds a month.
5. Exercise regularly.


So how am I doing so far?
It is January 3rd and I have exercised once so far this year (this morning). I wanted to order pizza last night but fought the urge and ate at home instead. I read the Bible once this week and plan on reading tonight. I still have to open a savings account, but have to wait for payday to do that. :) There is a bank that is down the street that lets you open with any amount you want and gives you 6 months to get to the $200 minimum balance to avoid fees. I know it wont take 6 months to get the balance there, but it is nice to have that option.
